The gospel of luke - western concepts of salvation. By default, creation is benevolent and orderly. Humans alienate selves from this by going their own way (pride) But also a sense of being one"s own worst enemy. All abrahamic religions say that two factors must come together to fix this problem: Humans must submit to god and to god"s laws. God must extend grace to human beings. Lots of variation though re: which of these factors gets more emphasis, both between and within each religion. Original sin: since adam and eve, humans tend to go wrong no matter how they try to be good. As a result, humans are always falling short of god"s expectations and therefore given over to the devil for punishment.
