The science of sex: sex is more physiological and anatomy based (biological realm), while gender is more psychological and societal through the expression of self (society, culture, history influence gender) Institutional interpretations of sex in sports and athletics: basic assumptions is that there are 2 sexes and it must be ensured that competition is kept fair and separate. Ioc tries to judge sex and gender through genes and hormone testing, although these methods have proven to be difficult as it"s hard to define what sex and gender is. Genotype and phenotype: genotype the collection of genes and/or alleles (more diverse as not all genes are expressed, phenotype the expression of traits from genes and alleles. Lecture 2: the human spark: the issue of free will or agency in cultures and society. Influences towards idea of free will: self, environment, genetics. How to explain why humans are the way they are: genes, being human, other means.
