Basic underlying assumptions: european colonialization, islam vs christianity, ethnic & linguistic diversity, ethnic vs political boundaries, agricultural & natural resource economies, dictatorship and political unrest. Perpetual optimism is an integral part of africa = held religious beliefs. Ubuntu software = relationship between individuals and group // basic of person"s identity and help each other. Business culture more driven by relationships than transactions. Pace of doing things are much slower = outlook is long-term. Interpersonal competition between employees is not encouraged = set them in competition is not good for them in their environment. More emphasis on verbal than written communication. Constant conflict between western & local business ideologies. 2 congo"s: one controlled by french and the other german.
