Collaborative partnerships: describe the essential ingredients of a collaborative partnership: sharing power, being non-judgemental and accepting, being open and respectful, living with ambiguity, being self-aware and reflective. Power sharing: both patient and nurse determine a plan of action, or making decisions. Ask the patient what they like or don"t, Egalitarian power: both partners on the same level, each are learning from one another. Recognizing the knowledge that the patient also has: being open and respectful: a willingness to engage like real people, swanson"s : blindfold experiment, being with, knowing. Willingness to experiment, change and learn something new. Developing a relationship with the other person. Show openness in the asking questions, how questions are asks, and listening to response and responding to answers. Respect: respect for one another"s responsibilities, respecting the opinions of others and knowing that not everyone one does things (coping, healing) the same way as you.
