Urinary elimination: millions of nephrons in the kidney, urine travels along the ureters. Control of micturition: (urine output, ability to pee) 1500 1600ml/day (usually 30 ml/hour minimum) 150-200 ml urine in bladder is sensed, some people can hold more and some less. It is a spinal reflex, involuntary control s2-s4. Pelvic floor muscles: are important to keep everything in place. At a certain point we can stop urination and at some points we can"t. Control of defecation by mass peristalsis, moving things along. Psychological: stress, nervousness, fear, bathrooms in different countries. Medications: can directly affect the bladder, can cause change in color. Age: decreased peristalsis with aging, can have prostate cancer. Psychological: unable to move causes constipation, ex: depression. Fluid intake: not enough fluid intake can lead to constipation. Medications: can directly affect bowel, can create constipation. Physical activity: if you are not moving can lead to problems with voiding.
