Sensory information comes in through the dorsal root. Motor information comes out through the ventral root. Peripheral nervous system: encapsulates everything else: splits into two different nervous systems. Carries sensory information to the central nervous system. Carries motor information away from the central nervous system. Only 6 of them will be examined in detail. 1 - olfactory nerve (sensory info - smell) 2 - optic nerve (sensory info - vision) 7 - facial, tongue, soft palate (sensory and motor info) 8 - vestibulocochlear (sensory info - sound and balance) 9 - glossopharyngeal (sensory and motor info - taste) 10 - vague (sensory and motor info - command info from and to organs) The optic, olfactory and vestibulocochlear nerves only transmit sensory info.
