Document Summary

Descriptive: deals with the organization and summary of data replacing a large set of numbers with a smaller set of summary measures. A principal goal is to minimize the inevitable loss of information. Statistical population: includes all elements from a set of data, that is, all members of a specific group. If i want to collect information on students at mun, the population would be all of the students at mun. Sample: consists of one or more observations from the population, that is, a part of the population used to describe the whole group. I can select a random sample of students at mun as a sample of the population, that way i can get an idea of the preferences of mun students without having to speak with every student in the school. Discrete variables: countable in a finite amount of time. For example, you can count the change in your pocket.
