Common beliefs constitute the store of knowledge passed down from generation generation: each new generation adds contribution. We depend on the discoveries of others & contribute our own efforts to the common store. Education is imp in the passing on of skills, knowledge & values & it would be imp w/o belief. Every society has beliefs: common understandings, judgements, values community develops its identity & progresses. The values we take as our own are taught to us. We share values of the cultural & religious heritage with which we identify: our values are often the same as those around us.
