RELS 2610 Lecture 5: Unit 6: Coming to Judgements of Value, Deciding and Study/Discussion Questions

18 views2 pages

Document Summary

Making plans is for purpose of doing something. Evaluation is about determining the value/worth of the plans you set and the ends or goals to which you aim: can also be a perplexing & difficult process involving intense feelings, conflict, contradictory aims & plan. Judgement is a judgement of value: some of it will be aesthetic. Choices are revealing about who you are, the groups you identify with, and what you value. Free will: operates along with the spontaneous wonder & concern that directs us when we ask questions, judge, understand, plan & evaluate. Questions may occur spontaneously but we must pursue them. When you do decide what to do, you can still not follow your conclusions: a judgement is about what is the case, and a decision is about bringing something new into the world. Altering the situation for better/worse or leaving it as it is.
