Sociologists look at the whole group, but every now and again they pay atenion to one individual. ***deviant case- the events fundamentally deviate from the general patern (outside general patern)**** Example: montreal massacre, induvial killed 14 female engineers, irst murder case to take place in school seing in this country this makes this a deviant case. A deviant case today may not comprise a deviant case in the future. A deviant case doesn"t stand sill, it can change. Ex: mother theresa lew over the radar, can be considered deviant case. Mount cashel orphanage (broke the issue of child sexual abuse in this province, broke the silence) can be deviant case based on culture standings. When sociologists study deviant cases the must be able to defend it and say why it is a deviant case because sociologists usually study a group. When sociologist study the group, the someimes look at individual in a group like suicide.
