Critique of capitalism: has benefits, get us to point of getting over scarcity, but leads to exploitation of workers. Critique of liberalism and dominant ideology: proposes way of freedom that can"t in capitalism. Equality as highly valued: relative economic and political equality (within reasonable limits) for all. Progress through history toward a rational and free society. Property should be communally shared: selling labour, owners buy their labour. State in capitalism (as maintaining exploitation) vs greater democratic role in socialist future. Class class divisions/conflict will bring capitalism to an end future classless society: wanted no more class difference, ppl equal, take away ownership/exploitation. In philosophical literature: utopia thomas moore, experimental communities, religious of monistic communities, robert owens new lanark . In scientific and utopian rejections of industrialism: proudhon, saint-simon, fourier. Marx point not to go back in time, capitalism is preventing us from over scarcity.
