Genetic and physiological: studies suggest that addiction tendencies can be hereditary. Tend to seek novelty and excitement, disorderly and distractible. Cognitive: develop patterns of substance abuse because beliefs regarding the personal benefits (e. g. believing alcohol will make them more socially attractive) Schizophrenia: the most common of psychotic disorders, it is a serious psychological disorder characterized by thought disturbances, hallucinations, anxiety, emotional withdrawal and delusions. Typically makes its appearance between the late teens to early thirties. Highly misused term as it literally means split-mind , however it does not imply multiple personalities.
