Week 6 lecture: the treatment of psychological disorders. Types of assessment (before treatment): direct observation, clinical interviews, questionnaires, cognitive/psychological tests, medical imaging (e. g. : fmri, eeg, *assess both before and after treatment, not always effective for every person therefore follow up to evaluate. History of treatment: early treatments methods, traditional forms of psychotherapy (more often used in past, but still components of toda(cid:455)"s t(cid:396)eat(cid:373)e(cid:374)t(cid:895) Behavioural therapies: maladaptive behaviour is the problem; need to change this behaviour directly, teach to behave in more desirable ways, solve the problem, most techniques based on operant and classical conditioning.
