Protecive factor (alter the risk of future harm to the child/ modify risk of future harm): Individual (both parent and child: self suiciency, high self esteem, altruism. Family: supporive relaionships between other adults, support in ime of threat, appropriate structure in family, parents monitor and good problem solving abiliies, parents who expect pro social behavior. Community- links with people and organizaions in ime of need. Environment: access to resources, mid to high socioeconomic status, families connected with the religious community. Eligibility spectrum (helps determine whether or not a family needs services or not) The most basic funcion of a community is to protect children from preventable injury, neglect and abuse. The ability to safeguard the vulnerable is basic indicator of the wellbeing of the health and wellbeing of a community. Safeguards comprise of a framework of rights, policies and duies that serve as a form of protecive oversight.
