Greek architectural orders- each from a different city state, developed at different times. Doric: masculine, plainest and simplest, shaft is fluted, no base, plain capital, also only one with triglyphs and metopes. British vs greece fighting over who gets to keep it. Greek art always about stories except if funerary. Centaurs are the persians, greeks are the lapiths irrational monsters vs reason and humanism victorious. Ideal man winning over half man half animal. Order and civilization, balance = best values of greeks. Athletic contests = religious, included processions to honor athena with new peplos. 2 men parade marshals to keep people in line. Crowd scene but not disordered, has sense of gentle rhythm. Athlete, but longer body (8 heads vs dory 7 heads) More dynamic posing of body, more open, takes up more space, more in the round meant to be seen in multiple angles.
