Cycladic known for marble, canon of proportions. V warlike, buried kings and warriors with many weapons. Mask of agamemnon: legendary king, best largest and finest, suspected to have been polished up, burial mask placed over corpse, molded over face, doesn"t have technical skill of minoans. Other art: signet rings with narrative, scabbard. All have scenes of hunting and warfare. Not around river, but around gulf of mexico. Rubber people: first to play the ball game. Polytheistic, ate maize etc which were also staples of later cultures. Interest in cosmos, time, tracking time: important cultural characteristic to pass down. Situated buildings acc to celestial: found in ritual centers, most were made out of basalt not local. First superpower, but defeated by alexander the great. Warrior kings that managed to add many territories v diff cultures that were allowed to keep their history etc, good bureaucracy but had to pay taxes- stable empire.
