Upside down, laterally reversed, not portable, can"t focus, have to be inside, completely light-tight. 17th c- reflex camera obscura by johann zahn. Added changeable lenses, portable, had mirror to flip image, user could draw on a flat surface. Had round hooks to wear as pendants/wall hangings. Optical image making and chemical means of fixing image on receiving. Nitrate of silver darkened when exposed to sunlight could use it to surface make image. It looks pretty shit now, because of degradation. Made the first photographic image: view from the window at le gras. 8 hour exposure, can see the movement of the light. Plate washed in solvent and exposed to iodine fumes before removing varnish. Started with dioramas in 1821: living paintings, used camera obscura. Details were made open to public, had support of french government,
