Somatic nervous system: controls voluntary movement by bringing messages from the brain to the muscles and joints throughout the body, allows us to move our body. Autonomic nervous system (automatic / involuntary functions: involuntary actions of organs and glands, interacts with limbic system (emotions) to regulate emotions, limbic system does the psychological experiences but the ans regulates the physical feelings. Associated with: states of physical arousal, fight or flight response, increased heart rate, breathing, perspiration, human nature. Associated with: states of rest, decreased heart rate, breathing, increased digestion.
