We are going to learn how libraries decide what systems they need, what features do they want - if we understand how systems are purchased, how they work so we can give feedback. We learn access lots of libraries use it and access teaches us how databases are used. Also deciding which fields to index, when you see fields that are checkable and not checkable someone decided which fields would be index. We are going to look at cloud software. An assignment is to decide which system we need for the library. Dont forget she will put a sheet up with libraries and what ils they use. Keep in mind, ils and library software is sold by private companies so their websites is about selling their stuff. We will not be tested on access on the exam. Definition on ils in ppt, it is software that operates with separate modules that interact with each other and impact each other.
