Volunteers are moving away from long-term volunteering with a single organization to short-term commitments to several organizations. Canadians may not be as familiar with volunteering . People are seeking more meaningful, challenging and interesting volunteer opportunities. The majority of volunteers today are working people from families where both people are employed. Volunteer opportunities for the whole family are appealing to many. Technology has changed the way people can volunteer so there needs to be opportunities for virtual volunteering . Hrm is very different in for-profits vs non-profits. We must adapt the 6 key elements of a hrm system to the non-profit context. The reasons for volunteering and the demographics of who volunteers are important considerations for all non-profit.
