NPM700 Lecture 7: Chapter 7 Resource Development - Chapter 7 3
Document Summary
Identifying the people that are passionate about what your. Npo does and has the financial capacity to give is not as easy as it sounds. A tremendous amount of work has been done to identify the best strategies for identifying donors at the individual, corporate and foundation level. The common approach is to begin with the people close to you your board, your leaders (staff and volunteers), your clients, your members etc. Assessing their likelihood to give, or give more if already a donor, is an activity that npo managers are actively engaged in throughout the life of the npo. Fundraising activities aren"t like recipes the ingredients of a great development program can"t simply be copied from one non-profit to another. Nature and size of the npo, nature and number of dedicated volunteers, broad appeal of the cause etc. all impact what works. Lots of tactics to choose from telemarketing to social media to personal requests for major gifts.
