Given this, it should be treated as a high priority when undertaken. Some type of initiation document should be completed to define the scope, objective(s) and timelines of the planning work. The strategic planning process cont"d: confirm mandate and conduct stakeholder analysis. Starting with the mandate allows an organization to consider it"s work from the perspective of purpose. Behind purpose is a set of stakeholders the people served or the people serving. External stakeholder expectations should shape the programs/services offered. The strategic planning process cont"d: review mission/vision and values. An assessment of an organization"s people and financial resources. This includes everything from information technology, competency of staff and volunteers and prevailing culture. We"re looking for what has become a strength and what has become a weaknesses.
