Offenders do not view imprisonment as the most severe sanction/punishment. Not as much temptations in confinement as compared to the outside world during probation. Correctional interventions are most effective when matched with the offender"s level of risk and higher-risk offenders benefit from interventions more than medium- and low-risk offenders. High risk offender matched with a higher level of supervision. Treatment must address factors related to offending behaviour. To be effective, correctional interventions must address the criminogenic needs (dynamic risk factors) of offenders. Correctional interventions must address the criminogenic needs of offenders. Match interventions with learning styles/abilities of the offender. Programs that are designed to keep offenders from being processed further into the formal criminal justice system. Can be used during any stage of the justice process.
