• Journal peer reviewed, authoritative source, written by experts, not dumbed
down therefore has specialized vocabulary. Can put in bibliography
• Popular are like magazines, newspapers etc. cannot put in bibliography

Register your StFX card with the library
Subject guides: nursing you can find many things related to that field and contact
her on there as well
• Find books tab: put in something you want to research, to narrow sources
instead off all of Novanet put StFX library then go on the left hand side and go
to tweak my search and click what you want to search for. It helps narrow
your search. If it says online access then it is an e book. When it says available
at StFX Macdonald Library then it is only hard copy and if it is found both
ways it will say. If its only hard copy it always says if its available or if it is not
available.
To get a book delivered it brings you to a log in page
• The log in is your bar code of your student ID once you have registered your
card
• Password is the last 4 digits of your home phone number

Google scholar: don’t start your search here. Start at the EBSCO CINAHL
EBSCO CINAHL: use cinah headings and then put a subject and you get a bunch of
topics. Pick on and then you get a list of subheadings. You can pick one to narrow
your search. Then you can use the advanced search (it gives many ways to narrow
your search if the full text isn’t on there you can click find full text at stfx and it will
say If we have it or not. If it is not there you can do document delivery free of charge
