Why is it this age? because people recognize that children are ready for this. They are at a different point in development! Age of reason: they can think differently now, that it is recognized in large groups of people and no matter what areas you"re talking about. Should be easier because we have them spoken. You already have the symbol system, just have to learn how to depict it. But it turns out it is actually harder to learn to read and write than it is to speak. Children need to be taught to read and write, language is not taught! Some have a really hard time learning to read and write. What are the abilities that need to be in place to learn this: distinctiveness of letters. These are nonsense forms for the children who cant read or write, so they need to learn to perceive the difference between letters .
