For a long time, people thought that time is a line it has a beginning middle and an end. Our lives are a gift that are given to us by god: our life is sacred by definition. I participate the living of my life with god: god is there for beginning middle and end. The unfolding of your life is gods story. It is real and it is not an illusion: god acts in the world. God made humans in his image, our activity can only be to the degree to which we are aligning ourselves by gods wish for us: christianity began about 2000 years ago.
