There is only one verb to tolerate" and one adjective tolerant" but there are two nouns tolerance" and toleration" have evolved slightly different meanings. Tolerance is an attitude of mind that implies non-judgmental acceptance of differ- ent lifestyles or beliefs, whereas toleration implies putting up with something that one disapproves of. Not equally tolerated, approved of by virtue of who we are. Religious groups: muslims are not tolerated in the usa, religious intolerance has always been part of society.
