Document Summary

Small goals, voting, actively be involved, joining a political parti. Sociologically, think of individual solutions and we think of it in collective terms (organization form) If workers have a problem they will need to tackle it collectively. Theme: the creation of moral panic (poor, working class, people of colour) He wanted to compare the welfare state to the penal state. As the workers became stronger and better organized there was more fear. Boom and bust cycle of the economy, the welfare state used what keynes said to create jobs and help the economy out of depression. After the 1980"s the welfare state suffers from cut backs and was less beneficial for workers. More anti-union messages in the media (anti-union legislation) (weakened union strength) These changes caused greater inequality and it"s more part time and contract work (term employment) precarious work because union jobs were moved over seas. Less control, greater economic insecurities (less benefits, less money)
