Journalist and essayist who has written and taught extensively about women"s health issues, among other things. She is the author of the books nickel and dimed, global woman: nannies, Maids, and sex workers in the new economy, bait and switch: the (future) Pursuit of the american dream, and many others. Women are still earning much less than men. According to some people, globalization can better the work and lives of women. Back-drop to all these changes since the 1980s. Rather than having public services run by the government, they are being run privately the government saves money by doing so. Individuals should be responsible for their own well being. Leave it up to the individuals, less government services. Private growth and profit, things work best when businesses are allowed to pursue their own profit without regulations. Companies downsizing their workforces to keep costs down. Universities have no government funding anymore tuition hike.
