Document Summary
In many ways, there wasn"t necessarily always such a thing as india and rather, there were multiple kingdoms, with religions and the like ruling. These kingdoms had a lot of resources and thus, they were wealthy and powerful. Hindu culture is one of the oldest cultures, and was very influential in the territory of india; chinese and japanese culture may owe some of their culture to this. There is an issue with india not being a country but by 1600, and just autocratic kingdoms by this time. It was not a country in itself, and therefore, could be seen as claimable" Instead of india being a powerful country to confront and negotiate with, there were plenty of little territories. They thus had bilateral negotiations with the kingdoms, using bribes and the like, and thus, they became more and more vulnerable.
