They have testimonies/letter of authenticity written by white people. Their audience were white people, they also had no legal standing, there was a lack of credibility. With the letter, then there was that credibility. This was an attitude or authoritative system that tried to regulate others" behaviour on the prejudicial basis that they are intellectual and thus, morally inferior. It treated it like they were children, unable to think or do things of their own accord. It did help to abolish slavery, as it was convincing. Many americans at the time, did not believe in full racial equality; they just believed that slavery was evil.
