Associate principal at the aahsopi elementary school on the blood reserve, and is a literacy activist, organizing the annual literacy pow wows in her community. Worked at red crow colege, kainai alternate academy, and aahsaopi elementary school. She found a lot of students came with baggage, and she had to adjust to this. Culturally relevant activities that involved language helped healing, and created a connection to ancestors, and home. In 1980, the old st mary"s residential school was turned into the red crow college. A lot of the students dealt with the same issues as the adults, but a main issues was addiction, gang violence, and hard drug use. A lot of students weren"t raised by their parents. Originally very low budget, with one computer, 40 kids, and very little support staff. Land based learning was huge in this particular program. This helped to lead to the kainai public library.
