Document Summary

In 1665, there was the last great outcome of the plague in london in 1665, which left 68 000 dead. It is thought that since it happened so rapidly, that it was the pneumonic form of the plague. It spread in 10 months, which lead to many quick deaths. There was the insecurity of the stewarts coming back with his catholic influence. They were afraid of outsiders, and scapegoated them for the issues they were having. At 2:00am, september 2 1666, a fire would break out at a bakers shop in pudding lane. It was named pudding lane as it was where the bakers were. Early modern cities were divided up with different trades on different streets. The streets would thus be named after the industry that was done in that area. The buildings were all close together, made of wood, and things were very dry following the drought.
