Document Summary

Tree shows are in the order of scandentia. Thumb and toe widely separated from other digits which allows grasping. Flat nails rather than narrow claws on some digits. Large brain which is correlated with a shorter jaw. They have forward facing eyes, which gives them binocular vision, which allows primates to see in 3d better than other mammals. Primates have 5 digits, which means they are pentadactyl. Limbs with opposable first digits allows for a powerful grip. Other primates other than humans have finger prints as well. Finger prints can help to improve grip, and it increases surface area. Hominids lack tails, and have relatively large brains. Which includes orangoutangs, chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, and humans. Non-anthropoid primates: slow loris, potto, bush baby, ring-tailed lemurs. Monkeys fall into two categories: new world and old world monkeys. New world monkeys live primarily in trees, and old world monkeys are arboreal and ground-dwelling. The home in evolutionary tree is highly branched.
