Fear of wider societal implications from the breakdown of traditional marriage have been frequent. Women"s choices to enter the workforce have been the focus of intense debate. Religiously affiliated and other socially conservative groups have been at the forefront of advocating for traditional marriage. Actual research on divorce is fairly mixed showing that the effects are actually very situationally sensitive. Still a relatively recent phenomenon, so any research remains initial. Initial research shows little difference between heterosexual and same-sex parents in terms of parenting skills (not a lot of research on this year still very recent) Some cultural strains on the child since such relationships are still uncommon. Mostly in the form of bullying from other children. Children are aware that their parents don"t represent the norm. Learning theory: socialization is a process directed by socializing agents and individuals by rewarding acceptable behaviors and punishing negative ones.
