ACSC 533 Lecture Notes - Lecture 24: Mnemic, Tony Buzan, Method Of Loci
Document Summary
Tony busan has also promoted mnemonic systems. A mnemonic device is any learning technique that aids information retention in the human memory. Mnetins aim to translate information into a form that the brain can retain better than its original form. Buzan was a co-founder in 1991 of the world memory championships, an organized annual competition of metal sports in which competitors memorize as much information as possible within a given period of time. Ancient greeks and romans distinguish between 2 types of memory: natural and artificial memory. The former is inborn and is the one that everyone uses automatically without thinking. The artificial memory in contrast as to be trained and developed through the learning and practising of a variety of mnemonic techniques. Mnemonic systems are special techniques or strategies consciously used to improve memory. They help employ information already stored in long-term memory to make memorisation an easier task.
