A: males are more choosey and more discriminatory about who they mate with. No biological principle that says females are always higher investing sex in mammals. Female: over the course of a life time, females are predicted to have a lower number of offspring compared to males, which means males would be predicted to have greater variance/skew in their reproductive success compared to females. Q: what is the challenge hypothesis? a: when individuals engage in meaningful challenge it affects their testosterone levels. A: high potential cost for individuals who engage in them.
