Know some of the main sites we have talked about for the midterm. First assignment is posted due february 26th. Deining features: large thighs, breasts, but, belly, obvious pubis/vulva: there are diferent elaboraions of the venus igurines from diferent locaions. One of the most interesing explanaions of these igurines is a mother-goddess complex. Each igurine was a diferent aspect of motherhood. Perhaps from a society that was female-centred instead of male-centred. Perhaps a variety of ages represented by the igures. Some carved out of tusks/ivory, some out of stalacites. Sympatheic magic; creaing something in the hopes that something else will happen this would showcase the possible beginning of a ritual. Broken mammoth is a site that people lived at many years ago (clovis people) Mammoth bone fragments and charcoal that was over 13 000 years old. Arifacts included: scrapers, mammoth spear, bone tools, crude stone tools (14 000 years old).
