Chapter 5 the first humans: the evoluion of homo sapiens. Though their heads were diferently conigured than ours their lower faces juted out, their foreheads sloped back, they possessed large projecing ridges of bone above their eyes their brains were, on average, the same size as ours. They were not savage or primiive beasts as 19th century arists depicted them. Diet: heavy on meat (lots of evidence of huning), and small amount of plant material (seeds from wild peas) The men were related to each other, the women were not related to each other, and both children were related to one of the women and one of the children was related to another woman. Shows that the women moved around to be with the men who stayed in groups. Rocks with purposeful lines and markings on them. Bones and teeth used as jewelry may have served to idenify one tribe from another, or show status.
