This paper is a research essay that requires you to develop a thesis in response to a question about communication. An essay that answers one of these questions in a very general way will not be successful. In order to write a good paper, you must formulate a specific thesis that addresses your topic, and construct an argument to support that thesis. You should select one theory covered in our coms 201 course, and you should choose a specific example to examine in your paper. You must use at least four scholarly secondary sources (beyond the textbook and required readings on blackboard) in developing your discussion. You are welcome to use the textbook and other required readings, but they will not count as one of your four scholarly sources.
