The audience can see from this that they are might be on the opposite sides in the coming war. Remember that the last scenes in act 3, were all men making decisions. Move to scenes dominated by women, who are concerned with the fates of the young princes. The women are barred from seeing the princes by brakenbury, who was appointed by oath to stop them.
