How does the poet communicate that meaning using what techniques?
It is very important to look for the stylistic elements
When you begin to understand the style the meaning might shift because of your
deeper understanding of the style of the poem
CONNECTION
Establish a connection between the meaning and the style of the poem
“To be objective really means to take all the available evidence into account in arriving
at conclusions (9)”
What comes first?
The meaning/interoperation or the analysis?
There are not hard and fast rules, what best suits you?
“Think out the writing structure your overall strategy appears to demand AND the
structure of the tests and you interpretation suggests, and is if they MATCH.”(10)
Bring the linguistic evidence to bear when it is RELEVANT to my interpretation
-“Relevant’ here means anything which bears on that interpretation, either
