He sort of sees it as parasitic: describes these paintings and busts as tragic, burdened by her cursed love. In love with the idea of her, can"t find someone else like her so he ends up falling in love more with her: the love of medea cannot die but the lover can. Sees himself as someone who can love her. Later he says he is the greatest lover she can ever have and he is the only one who can understand her. It exists in your mind: describes her as a tigeress beautiful, dangerous, and exotic. Uses things that are real to ground the readers, sort of makes the story a little more creepy: diary style is a bit of a disadvantage, we don"t get to see the thought process between.
