This is where the narrative steps back and the narrative voice pitches something to the reader. The only way we would really be able to get the full realist aspect of this test would be to tell the story in first person but then a lot of the text would be lost. Third person is supposed to obtain some form of objectivity perhaps. The narrative seems to get really close to josh, and almost coincides with his thoughts. With dicky there is always a separation between the narrative and his thoughts. What was the use of a sword six foot long? makes us feel like we are in. Josh"s head and the rest of this section conveys his confusion. Dicky contemplating suicide and the narrative gets close to him again.
