Geography - the beginning lectures now switching to build the background for climate change. Computer simulations can assist with developing hypothesis and testing. Beginning of our solar system, very violent, collisions. Formation of the earth, early atmosphere, role of sun in climate. We roughly think the big bang occured about 14 million years ago. Development of our solar syste,, started with a nebula, rotating around a protosun which is a star. Gasses and dust rotation, little eddies started to form within that swirling gas and dust. Looking at other surfaces of planets and moons in our solar system, main sign of that are impact craters depict violent creation history. Main reason is that tectonics has wiped out that signature. That means the other surfaces don"t have tectonic activity. Notice that decimal points in years in textbooks are conflicting. no worries. Early on, after heat source, surface of earth magma ocean.
