Utilizes chemistry, physics, geology, atmospheric, ocean sciences, history, anthropology, archeology. Clues about past climate conditions obtained from proxy indicators. Proxies are indirect evidence used to infer past climate. Based on the analysis of tree ring patterns, also known as growth rings.
