Within theognis" work, being an aristocrat is seen as the good men , and having all power and being moral. The bad men are the non nobles, non aristocrats and are seen as the problem. Economic and political change - the non nobles are gaining more power, and nobles are losing their power in return. Merging of villages/households to form an organized community of exploiting surrounding territory for resources. Congregated arounds leaders who lead them in warfare.
