The traditional interpretations of this period is that the liberal age corresponded to finally overcoming the colonial legacy, we see the establishment of colonial freedoms and a sort of democracy despite suffrage. By the second half of the 19th century liberalism prevailed and by this time latin america was on its way to progress.
