We might have thought of populism as a political movement from the early 20th century, but it has experienced a revival. These men were attempting to begin incorporating the masses into political organizations. Used social programs, benefits of modernization, suffrage, ect. in order to help their political platform and get elected. Jos battle (uruguay) originated many social policies. These leaders were beginning to open the political system to previously disenfranchised groups of people especially workers, and to a lesser extent the poor. Marked the eclipse of oligarchic policies and export led growth. Replaced with a new form of mass politics.
