According to diatoma only the wise and ignorant are completely satisfied. The wise because they essentially know everything there is to know, and the ignorant because they are not aware of what they do not know. Humans are constantly craving, we want to explain how things work, we are moved by things and in this way philosophy is like eros . For socrates philosophy was not a career or an occupation but a way of living . Because in philosophy there is the thirst/ quest for knowledge we have a desire to acquire more wisdom. Socrates is critical of poets because to him poets are manipulators, almost like how we in the present time, are wary of advertisements. Poetry plays into the basis of human desire. Poetry uses languages to describe things, to capture the bigger picture. The greeks uses the word techne more like craft. Where the process of creating is just as important.
